Beaufort Annual Schedule of Events
Festivals are among the things done best in the Lowcountry where a celebration is almost always underway. Locals and visitors regularly take to the streets, parks and waterways to enjoy life with the special varieties of cuisine, entertainment, crafts and activities which define the friendly communities and their customs.
The Annual Penn Center Heritage Days Celebration is held every second weekend in November to celebrate and showcase the unique cultural heritage of the Gullah people of the Sea Islands.

The Beaufort Water Festival is a spectacular event that promotes the natural beauty and charm of the low country. During the festival, people from all walks of life come together in celebration of its rich history and southern hospitality.

Great Chefs of the South is celebrated the last weekend in February with visiting chefs, wine and food seminars and tasting events showcasing the best of the local cuisine and wines from around the world. Information: 843-986-5400, ext. 24.

Spring Garden Walk displays the magnificent explosion of color that pays tribute to Southern tradition and Lowcountry climate. The Spring Tour of Homes is a seasonal highlight featuring beautiful private homes open for visitors.

Soft Shell Crab Fest in April and Oktoberfest in October take place annually in the Town of Port Royal, and the Lowcountry Blues Festival in April includes a free concert and the Navy's Blue Angels every other year.

Get ready for summer with A Taste of Beaufort in early May. Food, wine, art and music create a day-long event in downtown Beaufort. Free admission and tickets for individual purchases add to the easy celebration enjoyed by the whole city by the bay.

Gullah Festival during Memorial Day weekend celebrates the African American heritage with folkways and foods, enjoyable and educational for all.

Independence Day is celebrated on July 4 in the Town of Port Royal with a day-long Flying Pig Festival with family activities, food, drink, entertainment and fireworks sparkling from the skies to The Sands of the public beach. Information: 843-986-5400, ext. 24.

Shrimp Festival in October includes a run and walk plus a huge exciting celebration of the shrimping industry. Enjoy local recipes and tastings or buy it from the boat to cook your own. Shop for arts and crafts and enjoy the Blessing of the Fleet. Free evening entertainment, children's activities and plenty of shrimp make this annual event unforgettable. Fall Festival of Houses & History is an annual October highlight of the Historic Beaufort Foundation when tours of various historic homes are offered along with accompanying entertainment. more info

Holiday events in December include tree lighting ceremonies in Port Royal and Beaufort along with special activities at Penn Center, a downtown Beaufort parade and A Night On The Town for shopping, singing and seasonal camaraderie. Light Up the Night is the popular holiday boat parade and celebration.
